Oh Please there is no such thing as hamster wheel collectors you say.
Well if there IS then somebody needs to market to them right?
Then let’s carry on shall we.
If you are the lucky person who owns the list we speak of hopefully you are a hamster wheel collector yourself. You probably understand this unique if somewhat scary group of people and have an idea of what to market to them.
You wake up Monday morning, stretch and get out of bed. After 15 minutes or so your focus shifts to the many hamster wheels you have scattered around your house. Some in actual hamster cages being used by happy hamsters and others in climate controlled glass cases against the wall. Your eyes range around and you spot that stone wheel from 3000 years ago unearthed in Africa, then your eye strays to the one made out of vines you traveled to the deep Amazon jungle to find. A true prize.
You ask yourself out loud, “what should I market to my hamster wheel collector list today?” You rack your brains trying to think of what they probably don’t have yet and should get. Hmm. Ah ha! what about that resale rights product you got last week that teaches people how to train their gerbils to roll over and play dead?
Perfect, it’s an awesome product you’ll sell a bunch of them.
So you send out the email, of course giving some handy useful free tips to your list and including the link to the sales letter for the Gerbil Training ebook. Later that day you are checking your sales stats and are surprised to see you haven’t sold even one Gerbil training ebook. What’s up with that? You sit back for a moment and suddenly it dawns on you. Your list is composed primarily of people who have a collection of hamster wheels and are interested in obtaining more.
There is no logical reason they would be interested in a Gerbil training ebook. Most of your list probably doesn’t even have a gerbil. Darn it you wish you’d thought of that before.
Suddenly another idea pops into your head, and this one is pure gold. Why don’t I ASK my list what they are interested in? Yes, now your on the right track, don’t try to convince people they need something, instead give them what they already want.
Part of the day is left so you bust your butt putting together an ASK campaign. This is nothing more than a simple survey created online with one question “what is your biggest frustration with collecting hamster wheels”. You send the link out to your list and wait. The results begin to pour in, faster and faster.
Starting to sift through them you notice a trend, many people on your list are having trouble sleeping. The main reason? Hamsters are active at night and like to run on their wheels, and the wheels squeak like the devil. (Anyone who’s ever had a hamster and wheel knows this to be true)
Most of the responses are people who are searching for a solution to get rid of the squeak.
Bingo!
You do a quick search online and find an ebook on ClickBank that details how to make a hamster friendly wheel grease! The ingredients are available at the grocery store and the concoction is guaranteed to keep hamster wheels from squeaking for up to 6 months. You know immediately that this is what people have been looking for. You try the recipe and resulting grease and sure enough, it’s the real deal.
You let your list know, and the sales start to stream in. Not only that but you receive a ton of testimonials from happy members of your list.
What’s the point of this odd tale? Simply don’t sell your list stuff they don’t want. Find out what they want by asking them. We do it here at Overcome Everything Inc. all the time, it works great.
Don’t know what an ASK campaign is or how to set one up? Head on over to www.listformula.com and sign up. We have a whole series of step by step videos showing you how to do just that. Enjoy!
