If you’re new to Internet Marketing, you may never have heard the term “bullet point.”
Those are the little dots or other icons you see beside items in a list sometimes, like this:
- bread
- milk
- eggs
Well, you need bullet points on your list building page. Why? Because they’re very easy for people to read quickly and that’s what getting your message to them is all about. If you don’t get their attention in about 3 to 8 seconds, you’ve lost them.
So, use bullet points in your squeeze page. Make it look easy to read.
Each bullet point should give viewer reasons why they need to sign up for your list, and they have to me more than “click here for great information.” That just won’t work.
Here are some of my bullet points from My First List.com
- The 9 Essential Laws of List Building
- How To Build Your First List In Less Than 90 Minutes
- 3 Ways To Instantly Make Money From A List
So, these 9 laws are essential. Do you know what they are? Does that pique your interest?
If you aren’t list building now, do you want to start in 90 minutes? Sure. Who wouldn’t, right?
And do you want to instantly make money? Well… that’s a no-brainer. Of course!
But let’s take another example. Let’s say you’re building a list around cat lovers and that you plan to send them recipes, stories, and cat toys in your autoresponder series. Of course, you’re also going to sell them a cat-related product in each message. Right?
Your bullet points might read:
- 5 Recipes Your Cat Will Love You For
- Heartwarming Stories Any Cat Lover Can Appreciate
- Toys You Make Yourself That Will Amuse Your Cats for Hours
OK, so if you aren’t a cat person, just forget this is related to cats and look at the message. People who do love cats enjoy the interaction with their pets, and with some cats, you have to work for their attention. With others, you want them to play with something and just leave you alone for a while. Cats are interesting creatures.
But aren’t lots of people very interested in reading about cats and buying things their cats might enjoy? Do you think they would sign up for your list?
Think of it this way:
If you were looking at your squeeze page, what are the things that would make you want to give a complete stranger your name and email address? It has to be pretty good, right? So, write all those things down that you can think of. You might have a very long list.
Narrow it down to the best three or five, and make those your bullet points.
Tomorrow, let’s talk about putting the autoresponder code into your squeeze pages.
