List Building | Blogs Rule

by admin on February 14, 2007

Now that you have your list building page up and running, how will you drive traffic to it? Well, there are 17 ways I’ve discovered of driving traffic to any site. But maybe the best way is by writing a blog. In the blog, you use keywords, important to your niche, and you hyperlink them to your list building page. If your blog gets traffic, so will your squeeze page.

So, here are some ways to get traffic to your blog:

  • Blogs are popular with search engines because they’re primarily content, and are easy for search engine spiders to navigate. Write a focused, information-filled blog, using the keywords you’ve chosen for your niche, and your blog could end up on the front pages of the search engines. That means a lot of eyes seeing a blurb about your blog.
  • Ask people to put your blog into their “blogroll” or the list of other blogs, usually in the sidebar.
  • Ask bloggers pertinent to your niche, and whom you respect, to write a guest article for your blog. Also ask them to mail out to their list about it. That way, you can both be list building, too.
  • If you’re making a little money with your blog, you may want to consider pay-per-click advertising. PPC works well for list building, but if you send them to the blog first, so that readers can get to know you, they’ll be more apt to sign up for your list.
  • Advertise your blog in niche-relevant eZines.
  • Join a network, like MyBlogLog, Blog Explosion, or MySpace, where bloggers hang out. They’re often your most avid readers.
  • List your blog in directories, blog and general. Some of these have high page rank, which will also help you to get onto the first page of search engines.
  • There are several more ways to do this, but the main idea is to get traffic to your blog, which will in turn, send traffic to your list building page. There are other forms of traffic, as I mentioned, but blogs are the fastest way to establish yourself in a niche and to get things done.

Hey Tellman,

You inspired me to start another blog. This one is all about traffic.

You make a good suggestion about adding to each other’s blogroll.

Can you walk us through that, please Tellman. I’m probably not the only one who’d appreciate a bit of a refresher (I did it once a long time back).

Thanks
Gary

I have a blog that is getting traffic. I wouldl ike to use the strategy of hyperlinking key words. My knowledge of online techniques is growning daily. But I have no idea how to hyperlink my key words.

And if anyone out there wants to share blog rolls with me I am ready to work with you.

And third- if you are in any way involved with parents and would like to swap articles to share on with each other just shoot me an e-mail.

I agree with the rest, some fantastic info. My daily reading…:)

Grace: Most blog software packages have a hyperlink button built in where you write your posts. In wordpress it’s a little button with “link” on it. Click it, paste your url in and add an ending link tag after the text and your set.
